Stench In Muscat, Oman

Throughout the last two weeks, we were wondering and asking where is this offensive smell coming from. The stinky smell really manipulated the Muscat surrounding until coming to the certain stage that Zaid could not accept it any longer and vomiting right on the spot.

After reading the 'Times of Oman' today, the caused of the stench is mainly due to a natural phenomenon called "upwelling". (I don't really know what does it means)
According to the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Science Center the motion of the cold water from the seabed of Gulf of Oman known as "upwelling" has resulted in the motion of cold water from the depth with nutrients have less O2. This provides favourable environment for the plant and animal reticules in water to nourish. These reticules start dissolving very quickly , resulting in such offensive smell.

Due to that, the Ministry of Environment had warned the citizens against the use of dead fish on the coasts which are currently affected by upwelling. Residents are also advised from swimming especially at places where seaweeds are dense. ummph.... rupa-rupa nya..
