Hari Raya Mood

From Mawaleh, to Ghala and the last destination for iftar is at Hamzah n Lynn house. This time around everybody are excited waiting for Hari Raya. Sampai-sampai Aji n Razak sikit-sikit nyanyi lagu Selamat Ari Raya. For the three muskeeters orang bujang pulak 'no need to say lah' muka semua berseri-seri especially our eldest brother Aji Syukur, tonight he and Adnan will be going back to Malaysia to meet their longing partner. Smiling broadly and talking about cheeky-cheeky things without bothering whatever we all disturbed them. Keep on looking at their watch thus counting for the time by saying in 10 hours dah boleh sampai lah. hehehe cian tengok orang tua berdua ni...

The most interesting part was, after performing our terawih we end up hugging each other then continued singing the Hari Raya song again. While we were busily talking about preparation for Hari raya, quietly Hamzah took out his karaoke set ...wah apalagi berebut-rebut nak pegang microphone. First, we were entertained by Aji Syukur with his 'My way' then unexpectedly our cikgu Roza showing off her hidden talent where she almost controlled the microphone bawak bermacam-macam jenis lagu. Even lagu Micheal Jackson "Beat-it" pun dia boleh bawak. eh..eheh .. boleh tahan cikgu discipline kitani. Our next highligthed of the night was our Abang Long Sayed Rafiee , the best performer of the night sang his favourite song until he danced on the spot. Everybody started to scream and laughed at him thus ada yang sindir him 'maklumlah 2 hari lagi nak balik' . hehe I think he might have that different kind of feeling....whereas he keep on saying 'dah tiga bulan lah tak balik' The funniest moment that we enjoy ever. At that moment too I realised that for us who are staying abroad thus away from families might feel lonely if we are reluctant to gather around and makes friend. Luckily we are a person who like to get along with others. tapi kadang2 kena tengok jenis kawan jugak.
Well, we ended our awesome night around 10.30 . After finished up with the clearing we went back beramai2 macam orang baru balik dari panggung wayang pulak. Besides that we also planned for our Takbir night which is going to be held at my house pulak.......... SELAMAT HARI RAYA..........MAAF ZAHIR DAN BATIN

3rd Week of Ramadhan

In the 3rd week of Ramadhan we received three invitations for iftar together. Last monday we were invited by our generous Omani friend Mr Mohamad Wahiby to have an iftar with his family at their house. Amongst those invited were my family, Hj Amin, Raja's family and not to forget the home alone husband. Since that night was on the 14th of Ramadhan, we have the chance to see the Qaranqasho fun night. A popular evening for children during the holy month of Ramadhan which I just knew it, where they moved from one house to another and receiving sweets. The sweets are given as a gesture for their ability to fast during this holy month. Within that period, we managed to see three groups of children coming to the house with plastic bag asking for their treats.
Then on tuesday night Daleel Petroleum hosted dinner for the staff and family members. This time the dinner was held at Al Noor Hall in MQ but we realised that not many people turned up during that night. Dah lah makanan selalu je tak sedap, furthermore my friend Intan and family were not with us so macam tak enjoy lah. After finishing our dinner we immediately went home.

On thursday night, Zaleha invited us for the 3rd family gathering at their place. The most excited night that moms always waiting for. The day where they cracking their head and busy thinking of what foods to cook and started to call each other asking for " u masak apa nanti" Finally, with the talented that they have, everyone brought at least two menu for the whole family to share. Eventhough we meet frequently but macam tak cukup cukup je.... too many topics to share and laughing at. Dads with their own topics and issues whereas the kids happily playing together macam adik beradik je flocking each other.
That night too, Rohimi had to go back to Malaysia to meet his beloved wife and kids. The next on list will be Syukur and Adnan then followed by Sayed Rafie. We were also informed by Hj Amin that they will be going back to celebrate their Eid, that mean we're gonna miss one family. Anyway, Selamat Hari Raya , Maaf Zahir Batin to those who are leaving us. Jangan lupa kat kita orang kat sini ye.....

My Home made Soyabean Milk

This morning I successfully made my own Soyabean Milk.

Ingredients: 1 packet of soyabean (soak for at least 6 hours)
Water
sugar 1 1/2 cup
2 pandan leaves, knotted
a pinch of salt

Soak soyabean and keep changing water to keep it clean. Drain the beans and gently rub off the skin. Separate soyabean in 3 batches and add equal amount of water and grind till fine. Strain and squeeze out the milk from the beans with a piece of muslin cloth. Mix in more water to the paste if necessary to make total 2 litres milk.
Put the milk into a large pot filling about 1/3, add pandan leaves. Remove foam when necessarily and bring to boil for just a few minutes. It tends to foam and overflow, so make sure the fire is low and your're there watching the cooking proces.

2nd Ramadhan Gathering

As planning earlier, our next iftar was held at Mawaleh too organised by Mr Raja and Madam Ros. Tok Wan prepared us with her khaw Sup Tulang , Ayam Kurma, Vegetable salad and her superlicious Seri Muka and puding. (Mak kasih tok wan nanti boleh belajar dgn Tok Wan camne buat sup tu). Before the clock strike to 6.20 p.m (our iftar time) each one of the family came with their own scrumptous recipe to fill up the table nicely.

The first guest to turn up this time ....heheehe, the everlasting family Haji Zunaidi, broadly smile bringing along our special Kuey Tiaw goreng and Sardine tuna quiche. Then a few minutes later , always a punctual family Datin Paduka Zaleha(sori leha this time you're beaten) with her mixed vegetables and assorted cakes . Our new member from Oman Oil , short and shassy Fauzi and Ana not forgetting with her ayam goreng. Our second last arrival, orang jauh ..... just go straight jangan belok-belok, Tan Sri Razak and his family. This time she presented us with her special martabak maggie. The last family... hehehe when Tok Bilal almost wanted to open his mouth for azan finally came our soft and gentle Hamzah's family with their yummy bubur lambuk and Bingka lemak bakar. So far, everybody were satisfied with the food, even during the makan time, mak mak asking for how to do this and that what to put first and next. enjoy nya.

The programmed cam biasa but this time our solat terawih a bit short and relax where nobody complaint of sakit kaki because last week Tok Imam read surah panjang. After solat we relax sekejap having snack. Pity Ros has to fry keropok ikan since the food almost finished (maklumlah anak2 semua besar-besar n ramaikan). Last night we also discussed our destination during the Eid holiday, the mom's wanted to go to Salalah whereas daddies proposed for Qatar. ( last-last duk rumah je nanti hehe) While having our discussion, suddenly Haikal gave us a shock. While playing football outside he suddenly bumped his head on the cement. Soon everybody leaving one by one waiting for the next gathering place.

Zaid Hopes and Dreams Conference Day

The Elementary School dismissed early today because in the afternoon there will be Hopes and Dreams conference between parents and teachers. Our turn to meet the class teacher is at 2.00 - 2.15 p.m. The conference are basically to dicuss on some ideas of things and the parents expectations and hopes for their child. Apart from that, the teacher wanted to know on things that our child like to do or does very well and the most important things is their achievement during their last 3 weeks at school.
According to their teacher, this week they have started to learn about the "Daily 5" at literacy time by learning how to choose books that they have interested in and reading them by themselves in three different ways.(read the words, read the pictures and retell the story).
Whereas in Math they have learned about ordinal numbers (1st,2nd,5th etc) and also about counting large groups of objects by making groups of 10.
Zaid is getting a credential remarks from his teacher today mentioning that he has no problem on the work given and managed to complete his assignment on time. Amazingly, the teacher also told us that he even dare to raise up his hand asking for question and bravely enough to stand infront to share/explaining on whatever things that he has made. (Bagus Zaid)Before, we used to hear complaining from his teacher saying that he is very quiet and shy and never wanted to raise question when they were in big crowd. Happy to hear that he does not need to enter the ELL class since his english languages is improving. Within this three weeks at school , he is able to write story eventhough some of the spelling are incorrect but their teacher told us it is normal since they are in the bridging stage.
Ok, well done my genius boy mummy and daddy are proud of you and always hoping that you keep on maintaining your reputation and performance.
Note: (Yum pande awak baca story book nya ya hehehe cali eh)

Good Luck Aida

Today is considered to be a tough and challenging day for my pretty princess Aida. At this time she is trying to involve herself to become a member of a student council in the middle school. As a lower grade student in the middle school ,they were not allowed to hold a high position so she is trying to grab for a treasurer post. All this while she has been very busy campaigning herself in order to be selected and struggling her best to get for that particular position. She even created her own amazing poster "Vote for Aida as a Treasurer" and with the full support from her dad, she is very confident and willing to accept whatever chores given later.

Since last week, she has preparing a remarkable text in order for her to captivate the voters and I know that she can do it very well. As a first step, today they were required to give a speech to the audience, convincing that they're qualified to compete for the desired post. (wah... macam Obama n Hillary Clinton lah awak tok Da)
Last night, after having our iftar she has her final practiced with us and well she did it splendidly.

As for myself, I feel a bit nervous and deep inside hoping that she will be able to control her emotion and manage to cope with the situation arise. Hopefully that she can answer the question given efficiently . Well Aida... mummy wish for the best from you and definately you can do lah......

Our 1st Ramadhan gathering

Wishing all the muslim people all over the world, families and my dearest friends Ramadhan Al Kareem and may Allah blessing us with good health and happiness.

Ramadhan comes each year, giving every fasting muslim a spiritual and physical improvement which last until the following year. Ramadhan is also a month that is full of completing and sharing. Last weekend we have our 1st Ramadhan gathering/iftar at our friend house in Mawaleh. Syukur Alhamdullilah everbody turned up for the iftar and the food served are marvelous. (sori no picture sibuk makan je). Starting with three families 3 years ago but then the community grew bigger and the tradition of having iftar together become a practise to us here. After solat we continued with our makan-makan and chatting , greeting each other. As usual, plenty of yummylicious foods prepared by the hardworking moms such as Ikan Asam Pedas, Daging Dendeng, chicken in mushroom, Rojak India, ayam masak kicap and Kerabu sayur pegaga. For the dessert pulak, roti jala, martabak, kuih ketayap, prune tart, sardine bun and sum-sum. Alhamdullilah semuanya habis.....

We finished our gathering with solat isyak then followed with solat sunat terawih. Our next place of iftar will be held at Raja and Ros place. Insyaallah.
